UPitch ‘Bringing bright minds together’

UPitch is an event associated with UHack ​that is designed to highlight the innovative talent in the state of Tasmania​. The goal is to bring bright minds together with industry to solve global challenges leading to promising successful start-ups​ and ultimately enhancing the State’s economy.

UPitch is an inspiring pitch night ​where you can test drive ​your innovation or creation, gain support and compete to make ​your ideas a reality. Finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their idea and concept in front of a panel of judges and senior members of University of Tasmania​. They may also receive mentoring, publicity, ongoing marketing opportunities​, as well as special custom-made trophies celebrating the​ir contribution to this inaugural event.

All Staff, Students and the Community are warmly invited to attend UPitch 2019.

Where: University of Tasmania, Lecture Theatre 2, Room 115. Medical Science Precinct, 17 Liverpool Street, Hobart.

When: 5:30pm – 8:30pm - Monday 11th of November 2019.

Who: Entrepreneurs, students, designers, engineers, software developers, hackers, professionals, and anyone else interested in start-ups.

About Us: As a university we are committed to delivering events which are important to Tasmanian Community. UPitch is delivered with the support of FutureFest TasmaniaEnterprizeIAG and YBF Ventures.

Eligibility

All submissions must be published on Devpost.

The competition is open to all: students and members of the public. Contestants under 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Requirements

  • Video Pitch (two mintues) 
  • Project Name
  • Overview on project idea
  • List of project team members 

How to enter

Video Submission

Entries must be published on Devpost, with a 2 minute pitch video 2019. Please include team name and list of team members.

You can enter as a team or individual on Eventbrite.

Once you have registered you submit a project name and video onto Devpost.

Judging Criteria

  • 3 Minute Pitch Video
    Submit a 3 minute pitch video to DevPost platform to qualify as a Pitcher
  • Delivery of Pitch
    Delivery of pitch, clarity, related to the audience and enthusiasm and passion
  • Business Case
    Business model, product uniqueness and depth of development. Product and technology
  • Potential for Impact
    Potential for Impact Would the application and associated plan have real impact economic, societal, environments. Can it change the world, or at least help someone in your community?
